Rule 26 were asked by long term client Pindar, to produce and supply all their branding needs for their Team GAC Pindar Extreme 40 Campaign for 2010.
The project involved a number of elements and Rule 26 are specialists in providing a unique integration of marine based branded products. This integration allows cost saving for the customer and ensures a consistent image.
Boat Branding: The Team GAC Pindar Extreme 40 was given a new paint job by Offshore Challenges in Cowes, and this was supplemented with a digitally printed wrap using high grade, marine resistant, cast vinyl plus cut vinyl graphics where required.
Extreme 40s are known for their crash and burn racing style and to provide print integrity throughout the whole season the image was gloss laminated before application to ensure it survived coming together with other boats, or the shoreline!
Three days in the shed in Cowes were all that was needed to transform a pair of bare white hulls into the visually spectacular Team GAC Pindar Extreme 40.
Sail Branding: New rules for the series for 2010 meant that the whole upwind sail inventory of the Extreme 40 needed to be completely covered in branding. There are three options for doing this; spraying or rollering paint onto the sail and applying the graphics on top, or a complete covering of polymeric vinyl.
Through consultation with the client, and analysis of the performance and weight saving aspects of spraying, versus rollering, it was decided that in order to meet the deadline for the first event of the year, that we would complete a vinyl wrap on the sails.
Although this is a heavier option than spraying, it was only marginally heavier than rollering the sail and by fitting the vinyl panels to match the flying sail shape of both the mainsail and jib, we were able to produce an opaque and unfaded image. Additionally it does not require a long term curing process as paint would, and along with that it wont flake off the sail during it’s use. The effect was a bright and recognisable image.
Team Vehicles: Along with the boat, Rule 26 also branded the tubes and console of the team RIB, and their towing Landrover, providing a unique and balanced team image.
Team and Corporate Clothing: As well as the technical and sailing team clothing provided by Musto, which was branded in-house in our Hamble workshop. R26 also provided a range of corporate and support clothing to ensure that the team was visible on shore, wherever they were. This included jackets, polo shirts, t-shirts, caps, quickdry tops, hoodies and shorts. These were fully branded using a number of processes suited to the clothing and the needs of the client.
So popular was the kit with the Cowes Week corporate guests, we needed to deliver a complete range of backup kit when it was clear that they were going to run out! In all, over 600 items were branded in the first two days of Cowes Week to meet demand, and walking around Cowes that week it was clear that Team GAC Pindar were in town!
Peter Gronberg of GAC commented - “The excellent service provided by Rule26 assisted us to exceed in our various ambitions where we needed fast action to brand our boat, and get clothing fast. The quality and looks of the branding could not have been better and we are pleased to recommend Rule26 to anybody who needs this special service.”
